There are a variety of ways to do this, including the following:
• One of the best ways to improve a patient’s experience is by teaching healthcare professionals about how to talk to patients using motivational interviewing skills, which allows patients to feel heard and understood rather than subscribing to the typical interviewing style, which often makes patients feel bad rather than empowering them to engage in good habits.
• Healthcare systems need to encourage patients to get the right care in the right location, as many people value closer-to-home locations that may not be able to offer the best services for a patient’s particular situation. Some larger companies have even started to reimburse employees for having to travel distances to receive the proper medical care.
• Rather than healthcare centers being able to offer a large variety of services with adequate quality, we should consider creating centers that specialize in a few conditions, ensuring that all patients receive the highest quality of care.
